Ingredients:
Meat Sauce
- 1/2 cup onion, chopped
- 1/2 lb hamburger
- 1 pack fresh mushrooms or 2 small cans, chopped
- 2 tsp minced garlic
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 15 oz can of petite diced tomatoes, do not drain
- 1 15 oz can of tomato sauce
- 1/2 tsp oregano
- 1/2 tsp dried basil, can use fresh too
Cheese Mixture
- 1/2 cup ricotta cheese
- 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 2 Tbsp. grated parmesan (for the top)
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 tsp of dried basil or use fresh
- 1/8 tsp salt (The parmesan will also add salt)
- 1/8 tsp of pepper
- 1 1/2 cups of fresh mozzarella cheese, grated
- 4 sheets of NO BOIL Lasagna noodles
Let’s Make It!
- In frying pan, add the hamburger, onion, and garlic. Cook over medium heat until the mixture is cooked through.
- Add the tomatoes, tomato sauce and seasonings to the hamburger and cook until it tightens just a bit. Keep the mixture soupy and do not let it thicken. You should have 3-4 cups of meat sauce.
- Next, mix together the ricotta and the 1/2 cup of grated parmesan cheese with the beaten egg, salt and pepper.
- Spoon a layer of the meat sauce on the bottom of the 9 x 5 Glass Loaf Pan.
- Place one sheet of no bake noodle on the meat sauce and top it with 1/3 of the ricotta mixture and sprinkle 1/3 cup of the grated Mozzarella over it, and 1/2 cup of the meat sauce.
- Repeat with the rest of the ingredients, with the last layer being meat sauce, 1/3 cup of the Mozzarella and the remaining 2 Tbsp of the Parmesan cheese.
- Cover the pan with aluminum foil and bake at 400 degrees F in the oven for 25-30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes or until the cheese melts and begins to show brown.
- Take the lasagna out of the oven and let it rest and tighten up for 10+ minutes.
Note: You can substitute the mushrooms with an extra 1/2 lb. of hamburger or substitute the hamburger with Italian sausage and modify the herbs accordingly. Make this great dish your own.
